Travel Connections on a Gluten-Free Diet
A page of links to helpful information and others' sites that deal with eating
gluten-free around the world.
- Gluten-Free Food Guides
- Especially useful for travelers from other countries coming to visit the
U.S.A., I recommend sending off for these two food guides in plenty of
time to have them packed in your luggage when you're on your way here.
They contain lists of commercial foods available at most regular grocery
stores all around the U.S., so that you can be assured of finding safe,
inexpensive foods you can put together yourself. (If you're staying in
hotels, you might find an electric frying pan, a spatula, and some dish
liquid a handy set of tools; you'll save the price of the frying pan --
which isn't expensive to begin with -- by buying food from grocery stores
and cooking for yourself in your own room. You'd be amazed at how much of
the "native cuisine" you can appreciate with a little "home
cooking" of your own.)
- Gluten-Free Inns,
etc.
- Inn-Seek is a search engine for lodgings, with this page specializing in
gluten-free hostelry (inns, bed and breakfasts, and small hotels). Nice
graphics and a well-laid out site.
- The Elms
Birdwood
- In the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, run by a
celiac.
- Gluten-Free in
Toronto
- Written by a celiac who lives there and knows the place well, here is
a resource for those visiting Toronto, Ontario (Canada, of course).
- Dining Out in Midland, Texas
- My own page of how to survive in our southwestern plains
city. Includes information on health food and grocery stores, too.
