Street Graves

Bethel Cemetery, Summersville, MO, July 1999

To get to Bethel Cemetery, you need to start from the junction of Route 106 and Route 17. Heading route-north on Route 17, it is 1/10th of a mile from Route 106 to "Factory Road" on the left. Take the left onto Factory Road. Two and a half miles down Factory Road, you meet a crossroads for Bethel Road. Take a left on Bethel Road. A half mile down Bethel Road, you'll find Wurtley Road, and the Bethel Church. If you park in the church parking lot you will be near the top of the hill, and face a downward slope with the cemetery across the street. There are three gates into the cemetery. The first is a car gate, the second is a car gate, and the last is a small gate. If you enter at the middle gate, you will easily see the tall Street monument, which was in excellent shape during our visit.

Miri and Ted in front of the Street Monument
This is a red granite monument with a sort of trophy on the top. My directions to the gravesite within the cemetary say, "In a direct line down the hill toward the street, from the tree with the Moberly graves."
Robert Street's Side of the Monument
Robert's dates are "April 26, 1803" and "April 18, 1866"
Elizabeth Street's Side of the Monument
Miri is holding the flowers we put on the grave. Elizabeth's has the dates "March 30, 1805" and "April 13, 1890" on it. One record I have showing her birth and death dates has her as "Elizabeth M".
Street "Father and Mother" Side of the Monument
This one says "Father and Mother. Here They Lay the Burden Down/Change the Cross Into the Crown"
Trophy and Church
This image shows the shape on the top of the monument. In the background you can see Bethel Church, which is across the street from the cemetery.

I also found a grave in the same cemetery, "Elizabeth Street Lucas" born May 17, 1834, died March 5, 1896; I assume this is another daughter of Robert and Elizabeth's (I have notes that show a daughter "Sarena" Street who would have been born in 1834).
