Another view of old fence.  This fence had about half blown down when Dave and I moved here in 1989 -- and was clearly not worth saving even then. Our neighbor, Graham, and his son tried putting the fence back up on their side, but the winds took it right back down again.  Most of it has begun to rot into the earth -- at least providing some food for the plants we'll put along here over the coming years. We are saving most of the cross beams (2 x 2s) and some of the better slats to use as natural-looking edging when we begin yard work along the fence. The rest we burned -- the flames were a gorgeous blue when the fire died down -- wonder what chemicals were in the wood?  29 January 2004
