Here we've got our backs to the cedar elm. The first tree is a little oak, the next is a chinese pistache, both of which Miri planted in the fall of 2002, and nurtured throughout that year and into the spring. There's actually a tree between them (a crepe myrtle). Where the junk yard fence ends, a barbed wire fence begins running off to the left, defining the backmost edge of our back yard. I am planning to plant a variety of vines along the fence, shrubs in front of the vines, and trees in front of that, to try to screen the auto salvage yard from our view. The pasture "road" will run between the trees and the electric fence, thus giving the trees a chance to grow without horses eating them (the road will not get much use I think). Next photos of these are closeups of the trees, so we can remember how small they once were. 20 January 2004 |
